Bali rewards a little preparation. Here are seven things worth knowing before you land: pack for both sun and sudden rain, dress modestly at temples, agree on a taxi fare (or use an app) before you get in, and try to time your trip for the dry season between April and October. Ubud gets crowded by mid-morning, so see the rice terraces early. Tipping isn't expected but is appreciated. And always carry small cash — many warungs and market stalls don't take cards.
